Why does Equifax calculate their scores different than the other two credit bureaus?

Is there anything you can do about your Equifax score? Shouldn’t it be at least close to the same as Experian and TransUnion? And why do most banks use them to check your credit for auto loans? They are so aggravating. They don’t even show a lot of my credit information, like saying I have no open bank cards when I do. Is there anything I can do to correct this? I need to buy a car, but I keep getting turned down for a loan because of my Equifax score.

Experian deleted an item from my credit report. Does this mean I no longer owe anything?

      August 26, 2010 · Posted in Experian Credit Report · 4 Comments

I received my credit report from Experian and there was an item on it that showed I owed more money than I thought I did. I requested an investigation and the results said that that the item was deleted. Does this mean that I don’t owe the debt or does it just mean that no one will see it when they run a credit check? Also, do I need to dispute it with the other credit bureaus too?

Why did I get three different credit scores?

I recently got my free credit reports from the three credit reporting companies and then I paid to get my credit scores. I got a different score from each company. Equifax gave me a credit score of 569, Experian 572, and Transunion 635. Why is this and how can I find out my real credit score? What can I do to correct this?

What lender currently offers the 100% cash out VA Loan option – and only reviews Experian?

      May 25, 2010 · Posted in Experian Credit Report · 6 Comments

I currently have a VA loan, and would like to refinance and get 100% cash out. The home will be rented out, and the cash out will be used for the down payment of my new home. Only one of my credit scores is over 620 (Experian), as I have been working for the past month to get a lot of incorrect items fixed. I have even provided letters to the agencies, but nothing has updated just yet . Any help appreciated.

Will I get charged for returning to Experian to view my credit report again?

      May 20, 2010 · Posted in Experian Credit Report · 4 Comments

I know you get one free credit report each year. On the Experian site, it says that if I want to return to my credit report, to enter my report number and other such pertinent information. I want to return to the credit report, but want to know if I will get charged for it (if it will count as another separate credit report instead of just one).

Why do two of my credit scores go up but not the other?

      May 8, 2010 · Posted in Experian Credit Report · 2 Comments

Thanks to keeping my balances low and making good payments, both my Transunion and Equifax credit scores have been going up (IT CAN BE DONE!). Experian, though, has been moving MUCH slower (if at all). The only difference I see between the Experian and Transunion report is the number of credit checks that have been done, but that number is virtually the same between Experian and Equifax.
Any insight would be much appreciated!

How to contact Experian to correct an error.

        May 2, 2010 · Posted in Experian Credit Report · 1 Comment

I viewed my credit report about 3 months ago and found an error that still is on my report from about 3 years back that the creditor agreed to correct, but to date has not. At that time, I submitted a dispute online with Experian and still have not received a response from them either.
It seems the only way to dispute an error with Experian is online. I have a number for them but it is all automated and directs you to info regarding how to obtain a report.
In other words, I have not been able to find a way to contact them to correct this.

I know the tricks like copying other people’s comments and submitting with your info. These will be trashed and you will only be wasting your time and mine! Just take a few minutes to read the post and write a few sentences about it and your comment will be approved.

        Descriptions of the plug-ins:

        No Follow

The nofollow attribute was introduced in 2005 to discourage comment spam. While it may help reduce spam, it basically eliminates blogs from search engine listings. The do-follow plugin removes the no-follow attribute from your comments.

        CommentLuv

When you put in your information and check the “Enable CommentLuv” box, the plug-in searches and displays your most recent post at the bottom of the current post. This essentially gives you two back-links for just one post.

        KeywordLuv

Having a keyword link to your site is much more powerful than just your name as the anchor text. To use this just enter – Your Name@Your Keywords – in the name field. Once posted it will look like this: Your Name Your Keywords says:

Why does Experian keep old addresses and wrong addresses on your credit report?

I had called Experian to have addresses removed that I haven’t lived at in years and addresses that weren’t even mine! Experian says that the addresses were given to them by creditors and if I want the addresses removed that I would have to call the creditor! Is this even legal?

Why is Experian telling me to file a dispute with the debt collector after I mailed a dispute letter to them?

        April 26, 2010 · Posted in Experian Credit Report · 6 Comments

I filed a dispute with Experian online and it came back verified. Now they won’t let me dispute it online anymore, unlike Transuion. So then I submitted a dispute letter and the reply was “Experian recommends contacting the debt collector”. What is this? Am I not able to ever ask them to verify the debt again because it came back verified once?

Since experian already deleted it? Is there a way I can get it deleted from other credit reports by sending them the experian corrected report?
