How do I cancel my account on annualcreditreport.com?

May 31, 2010 · Posted in Free Credit Report · 5 Comments

I got my credit reports from www.annualcreditreport.com and they didn’t charge me anything but I would like to cancel my account with them so they won’t charge me for anything in the future. I know it was the real government website and it’s supposed to be totally free but I would just like to make sure. I can’t find a phone number to speak with anybody other than 877-322-8228, but that is only for requesting credit reports over the phone.

Getting Equifax Dispute Results

May 31, 2010 · Posted in Equifax Credit Report · 1 Comment

I just checked the status of my Equifax credit dispute and the status says “Mailed as of the 11th”, but I never received an email notification or link to my results as others have mentioned. Are they just sending this information by mail or do I need to contact them?
Also, would it show up on the free credit report that I am now viewing if they made any changes or would I not see it until I get my next free report next year?

I can’t get my Equifax credit report but I had no problem with TransUnion.

May 31, 2010 · Posted in TransUnion Credit Report · 6 Comments

I went to annualcreditreport.com and got my credit report from TransUnion without a problem.
I then tried Equifax but the website stated that there is a “security freeze” on my report. I have never used Equifax before and I have never requested a security freeze. Why would there be a problem with one credit report while the other is ok?

How to get a free credit report from the TransUnion web site

May 29, 2010 · Posted in Free Credit Report · 7 Comments

I went to annualcreditreport.com and I had no problem getting my credit reports from Equifax and Experian, but when I was transferred to the TransUnion web site, all I see are offers for their paid credit reporting products and the option to order them. I don’t see any way to get the free annual credit report. How can I get the free credit report from this web site?

Does anyone else have trouble getting a Transunion report?

      May 26, 2010 · Posted in TransUnion Credit Report · 3 Comments

I can get my credit reports but my husband has had trouble getting his free annual report from Transunion (he did get the other two). Then he tried to buy his report from Transunion’s website but they said they couldn’t verify his identity. So then he called and kept answering questions and apparently they have some address where he has never lived! He gave them every address he has ever had and they said none of them matched the one they have. It has been a real pain in our butts. We just want to keep track of our credit score!

I currently have a VA loan, and would like to refinance and get 100% cash out. The home will be rented out, and the cash out will be used for the down payment of my new home. Only one of my credit scores is over 620 (Experian), as I have been working for the past month to get a lot of incorrect items fixed. I have even provided letters to the agencies, but nothing has updated just yet . Any help appreciated.

I know that the companies that advertise free credit reports are not really free because they start charging a monthly fee if you don’t unsubscribe. But I’ve heard that annualcreditreport.com is actually free without any trial requirements or even giving a credit card. Is this true and is it safe?

I know you get one free credit report each year. On the Experian site, it says that if I want to return to my credit report, to enter my report number and other such pertinent information. I want to return to the credit report, but want to know if I will get charged for it (if it will count as another separate credit report instead of just one).

How can I speed up the process to increase my credit score?

      May 10, 2010 · Posted in Credit Repair · 4 Comments

I am a 70 year old man and I have a chance to purchase a new 3 bedroom house for payments that would be less than my current apartment rent. When our Government bailed out the banks, I stopped paying on my credit cards thinking that I would never need a good credit rating for the rest of my life. Because of my limited income, I will never apply for another credit card. On one credit card I have a judgment against me. Two weeks ago I paid all of them off, including penalties. My credit score needs to be raised from 580 to 620 in order to get this home loan.

My question is, would it help to expedite the process if I would send to the three credit reporting agencies copies of my last credit card statements, collection agencies statements and bank statements with the details of the collection agencies withdrawal transactions?

Why is my Experian score lower than the other two?

      May 10, 2010 · Posted in Equifax Credit Report · 4 Comments

My Experian credit score is about 30 points lower than the Transunion and Equifax scores and it’s been this way for a few years. The only difference I see from glancing at the accounts is that Equifax shows more inquires in the last 2 years (5) than Transunion and Experian (they have 3 and 2). Would that knock it down by 30 points or does Equifax always score lower?

My credit scores range from 770 to 803 so I am not too worried about being denied credit, I’m just curious.

Why do two of my credit scores go up but not the other?

      May 8, 2010 · Posted in Experian Credit Report · 2 Comments

Thanks to keeping my balances low and making good payments, both my Transunion and Equifax credit scores have been going up (IT CAN BE DONE!). Experian, though, has been moving MUCH slower (if at all). The only difference I see between the Experian and Transunion report is the number of credit checks that have been done, but that number is virtually the same between Experian and Equifax.
Any insight would be much appreciated!

Can I repair my own credit?

        May 8, 2010 · Posted in Credit Repair · 13 Comments

Do credit repair companies work or could I repair my own credit? If I do it myself, how could I do it successfully? I want to build or buy a house for my family. I make about 60k a year and my wife and I have seven kids so it’s very important that we get a good interest rate or we’ll never be able to afford the payments. One of our kids had to have 5 brain surgeries right after she was born and this ruined our credit. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
