Which lenders use only the Transunion credit score for mortgage refinancing?

May 6, 2010 · Posted in TransUnion Credit Report · 2 Comments

I know most lenders use the mid score of the three popular credit bureaus but I have heard there are some that only use Transunion. I am trying to refinance my mortgage and my Transunion score is higher than the other two, so I would like to know which lenders do this.

How to have a judgement removed from your credit report when identity theft is involved

May 3, 2010 · Posted in Identity Theft · 3 Comments

I am a victim of identity theft but caught it years too late because I did not check my credit report. I’ve been reviewing my reports and one of the credit reporting agencies shows a judgment for a debt that I did not make. I have already disputed the item, filed a police report, and contacted the companies.

What do I need to do about this judgment? I have no idea what it is or what to do or who to contact or where to begin.

Why is Equifax not reporting my credit history?

May 2, 2010 · Posted in Equifax Credit Report · 6 Comments

I got my first credit card in June of 2006. My payments have never been late. Every 30 days the credit card company reports account status to all 3 major credit reporting agencies. Transunion and Experian both are showing my account correctly, but Equifax is not showing it at all! I had to pay Equifax for my credit report just to try to dispute it and now I get a bunch of crap from their customer service center. I know my credit card company is reporting my info. In fact just yesterday they did another report to Equifax and Equifax is still saying they have no record of the account. I’m really upset over this mess and I want an investigation by FTC and possibly the Attorney General for the state for the Equifax corporate office. What would you do? What is the best way to get immediate action?

How to contact Experian to correct an error.

May 2, 2010 · Posted in Experian Credit Report · 1 Comment

I viewed my credit report about 3 months ago and found an error that still is on my report from about 3 years back that the creditor agreed to correct, but to date has not. At that time, I submitted a dispute online with Experian and still have not received a response from them either.
It seems the only way to dispute an error with Experian is online. I have a number for them but it is all automated and directs you to info regarding how to obtain a report.
In other words, I have not been able to find a way to contact them to correct this.

How to remove a security freeze from equifax and transunion?

May 2, 2010 · Posted in TransUnion Credit Report · 4 Comments

Experian has a website that allows you to print a document which is to be filled out with the requested info, and mailed to a specific address. In doing so, I have managed to have the security freeze removed from Experian. The problem is that Experian has not notified TransUnion, or Equifax about the security freeze being removed from my credit file, so I am still stuck, and of course, there is absolutely no one I can call or speak with to help my situation. Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

Can I check my other two free credit reports after I got one?

May 2, 2010 · Posted in Free Credit Report · 5 Comments

I went online to the annualcreditreport website to request my free credit reports from the three agencies. This was around August last year in my local library. However, when I was starting to check some items in my first report, the library system crashed and I was unable to see my reports once it was fixed. If I try the annual credit report website today, am I going to be able to see at least the two reports I missed?

Aside from credit, what else can identity theft do to you?

May 1, 2010 · Posted in Identity Theft · 2 Comments

I’m a victim, but I’ve done all the damage control possible in terms of bank accounts and credit reports. I’m just wondering what other harm the thief could do to me.

If my credit report is flagged and he or she tries to apply for a cell phone, medical insurance, or book a flight — will I be notified?

Is that credit report alert only a defense against fraud or all cases of identity theft?
