How high can my credit score go if I only have credit cards in my credit history?

April 24, 2010 · Posted in Credit Repair · 1 Comment

My current credit score is 745 and I’ve built it solely by using credit cards and paying on time (but never had any loans). Somebody told me that the absence of installment loans will prevent my score from climbing much higher. Is it true? Should I take some consumer loan to boost my credit score since I am planning to apply for a mortgage in the near future?

How is the "Average Account Age" in the Equifax credit report calculated?

    April 22, 2010 · Posted in Equifax Credit Report · 5 Comments

I have a combination of Open, Closed, Revolving, consolidated and unconsolidated student loans, and a couple credit cards I have never used. I have averaged these in many different ways but have not yet arrived at the “Average Account Age” that is reported in the Equifax credit report. For those who haven’t purchased their report, an “average account age” is given, and the longer it is, the better for one’s credit score. Hopefully someone who has a simpler credit history can shed some light on how it is calculated. Thanks!

Why can't I receive my credit score?

      April 20, 2010 · Posted in Credit Repair · 4 Comments

So I have tried to use Equifax and Experian to obtain my credit score online, but upon receiving my results I was told that my identity could not be proven with the information I provided. I made sure I provided correct information, so I do not understand why I am getting these results.

Additionally, I am 18 and I do not own a credit card nor have I ever owned one, but I own a debit card. Any help would be appreciated.

I went to annual credit report website and paid $7.99 + tax to view my credit score. Are they going to bill me 7.99 monthly or was it just a one time thing? Also, my credit score is 685. Is that good or bad or just ok?

My husband had 49 errors corrected on his Experian Credit report today. Only one is being investigated because it is a judgment. These were all errors due to 3 other people being lumped into my husband’s credit report. It was corrected easily over the phone, but I forgot to ask how long until the changes are reflected in his credit score. I know the investigation into the one judgment that needs to be removed will be 30 days, but what about the things that were removed today?
