Why does Equifax calculate their scores different than the other two credit bureaus?

Is there anything you can do about your Equifax score? Shouldn’t it be at least close to the same as Experian and TransUnion? And why do most banks use them to check your credit for auto loans? They are so aggravating. They don’t even show a lot of my credit information, like saying I have no open bank cards when I do. Is there anything I can do to correct this? I need to buy a car, but I keep getting turned down for a loan because of my Equifax score.

Experian deleted an item from my credit report. Does this mean I no longer owe anything?

    August 26, 2010 · Posted in Experian Credit Report · 4 Comments

I received my credit report from Experian and there was an item on it that showed I owed more money than I thought I did. I requested an investigation and the results said that that the item was deleted. Does this mean that I don’t owe the debt or does it just mean that no one will see it when they run a credit check? Also, do I need to dispute it with the other credit bureaus too?

TransUnion has another persons information on my credit report

    July 11, 2010 · Posted in TransUnion Credit Report · 6 Comments

I got my free credit reports from all three credit reporting agencies today. I didn’t find any errors on Experian or Equifax but TransUnion has an additional name on my credit record with them. I don’t understand why they would have all her crap on my report! I have already contacted TransUnion to dispute this and I’m waiting for their response. Although I just discovered this today, this has probably been on my report for some time. I definitely intend to keep following up but I’d like to know if anyone else has ever had this happen to them and what and was the outcome. Also, will TransUnion just remove all of this or is this going to be a long drawn out process?

I currently have a VA loan, and would like to refinance and get 100% cash out. The home will be rented out, and the cash out will be used for the down payment of my new home. Only one of my credit scores is over 620 (Experian), as I have been working for the past month to get a lot of incorrect items fixed. I have even provided letters to the agencies, but nothing has updated just yet . Any help appreciated.

Why does Transunion show my Experian score lower than Experian does?

    May 11, 2010 · Posted in TransUnion Credit Report · 2 Comments

I understand Transunion is tougher and I expect their version of my credit score to be lower.

But what I don’t understand is why on Experian’s site, their report gives me one score, then when I get all 3 credit scores from the Transunion site, they report my Experian score as much lower?

Why is my Experian score lower than the other two?

    May 10, 2010 · Posted in Equifax Credit Report · 4 Comments

My Experian credit score is about 30 points lower than the Transunion and Equifax scores and it’s been this way for a few years. The only difference I see from glancing at the accounts is that Equifax shows more inquires in the last 2 years (5) than Transunion and Experian (they have 3 and 2). Would that knock it down by 30 points or does Equifax always score lower?

My credit scores range from 770 to 803 so I am not too worried about being denied credit, I’m just curious.

Why do two of my credit scores go up but not the other?

    May 8, 2010 · Posted in Experian Credit Report · 2 Comments

Thanks to keeping my balances low and making good payments, both my Transunion and Equifax credit scores have been going up (IT CAN BE DONE!). Experian, though, has been moving MUCH slower (if at all). The only difference I see between the Experian and Transunion report is the number of credit checks that have been done, but that number is virtually the same between Experian and Equifax.
Any insight would be much appreciated!

Why is Equifax not reporting my credit history?

      May 2, 2010 · Posted in Equifax Credit Report · 6 Comments

I got my first credit card in June of 2006. My payments have never been late. Every 30 days the credit card company reports account status to all 3 major credit reporting agencies. Transunion and Experian both are showing my account correctly, but Equifax is not showing it at all! I had to pay Equifax for my credit report just to try to dispute it and now I get a bunch of crap from their customer service center. I know my credit card company is reporting my info. In fact just yesterday they did another report to Equifax and Equifax is still saying they have no record of the account. I’m really upset over this mess and I want an investigation by FTC and possibly the Attorney General for the state for the Equifax corporate office. What would you do? What is the best way to get immediate action?

I viewed my credit report about 3 months ago and found an error that still is on my report from about 3 years back that the creditor agreed to correct, but to date has not. At that time, I submitted a dispute online with Experian and still have not received a response from them either.
It seems the only way to dispute an error with Experian is online. I have a number for them but it is all automated and directs you to info regarding how to obtain a report.
In other words, I have not been able to find a way to contact them to correct this.

How to remove a security freeze from equifax and transunion?

Experian has a website that allows you to print a document which is to be filled out with the requested info, and mailed to a specific address. In doing so, I have managed to have the security freeze removed from Experian. The problem is that Experian has not notified TransUnion, or Equifax about the security freeze being removed from my credit file, so I am still stuck, and of course, there is absolutely no one I can call or speak with to help my situation. Any help is GREATLY appreciated.
