TransUnion has another persons information on my credit report

July 11, 2010 · Posted in TransUnion Credit Report

I got my free credit reports from all three credit reporting agencies today. I didn’t find any errors on Experian or Equifax but TransUnion has an additional name on my credit record with them. I don’t understand why they would have all her crap on my report! I have already contacted TransUnion to dispute this and I’m waiting for their response. Although I just discovered this today, this has probably been on my report for some time. I definitely intend to keep following up but I’d like to know if anyone else has ever had this happen to them and what and was the outcome. Also, will TransUnion just remove all of this or is this going to be a long drawn out process?

Don’t assume a phone call will fix this. Dispute it via certified mail and follow up until they fix it and your credit report only shows your legitimate items.

My credit report was also merged with someone else. What I did was call the credit bureaus and I had them acknowledge the acct #’s. I had to let the agent know what accounts were NOT mine & 25 items were removed from my report. I had to do this with 2 bureaus.

    You think that’s bad.
With experian I have someone elses’ ss number under other identification (my husbands – but it should not be there). It takes forever to clear up these mistakes but be patient. Some people never check and these things harm their scores forever, possibly even preventing them from getting good jobs.

If you don’t know this person and you had nothing to do with their credit items, TransUnion should remove it asap.

This happened to me specifically with TransUnion only. It took my ex’s addresses and information 2 years after the divorce and put it on my credit report. They based the "new" information only on a mail forwarding order with the US Post Office. Real reliable source!!

Hey there, I think your blog might be having browser compatibility issues. When I look at your blog in Opera, it looks fine but when opening in Internet Explorer, it has some overlapping. I just wanted to give you a quick heads up! Other then that, superb blog!
